Event Description

Improve your decision-making process by better managing and using incident information in your daily work.

Security-related incidents put the lives of aid workers and aid recipients at risk, in addition to disrupting the flow of assistance to disaster-affected populations. They also cost a lot of money to organisations and donors alike and strongly impact on their financial health.

In addition to ongoing budget management, incident information contributes to better contextual and evidence-based budgets and proposals, and plays a highly strategic role in funding decisions. By being involved in security incident information sharing, finance and funding staff can ensure better reporting and compliance with donor regulations, and also provide support in incident response and implementation of lessons learned (e.g. contingency planning, insurance, etc.).

This training recognises the integral role of proposal writers and finance personnel in using security incident information. By liaising with security focal points and donors, discussing trends in operational contexts and costing incident prevention versus response management, they play a vital role in ensuring security risk management is addressed in budgeting.


Aim of the training:

The aim of this training is to provide participants with an understanding of the importance of information sharing from security-related incidents, so the cost implications of such incidents on key internal and external stakeholders can be considered, with a particular emphasis on donor funding, reporting and compliance.


Who is this training for?

This session is most suitable for financial and proposal writing personnel from non-governmental organisations (at field, regional and HQ levels) with the responsibility for donor proposal budgets, financial and budget management, reporting and/or donor compliance.



This training will run twice and there will be live webinars on:
19 February 1- 4pm GMT
12 March 1- 4pm GMT

It is held online for convenience and course materials will be released 2 weeks prior to the webinars.
