In 2014 alone, there have been at least 95 known cases of reported kidnappings of international development/humanitarian aid or international aid agency personal kidnapped. This does not count those that have not been reported .
This forum has been set up to discuss these and the many complex questions involved with kidnap and extortion. The reality is every case is different and should be treated as such.
What is certain is that kidnapping and extortion are increasing threats against the international development/humanitarian aid community and must be addressed.
