Kidnap, Ransom, & Extortion Discussion Forum

In 2014 alone, there have been at least 95 known cases of reported kidnappings of international development/humanitarian aid or international aid agency personal kidnapped.  This does not count those that have not been reported .

This forum has been set up to discuss these and the many complex questions involved with kidnap and extortion.  The reality is every case is different and should be treated as such.

  • What should and employer do if an employee or dependent is kidnapped?
  • What should organizations do if they receive threats of kidnapping or extortion?
  • Should ransoms be paid?
  • What is Kidnap & Extortion insurance? And should your organization have it?
  • What services do Response companies provide and who do they work for?

What is certain is that kidnapping and extortion are increasing threats against the international development/humanitarian aid community and must be addressed.
