Event Description

Employee Hostage Reintegration
Your duty of care for employees returning from captivity

Wednesday, June 13, 2018, 1-3pm – Boston Seaport World Trade Center

Please note: this event will be held under the Chatham House Rule

$300 for-profit / $240 ISMA members / $150 non-profit

American corporations, non-profits and faith-based organizations increasingly operate in kidnap hotspots. While many have long-term security programs, including preventive and kidnap operational response plans, few have procedures to support employees returning from captivity. Failure to meet this aspect of duty of care can leave organizations exposed to legal challenge.

This two-hour workshop will give you the “how to” on hostage reintegration, including health and mental health, assistance with practical challenges, return to work best practices, and strategies to manage the long-term impacts of captivity.

David Rohde is a double Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who was kidnapped in 2008 in Afghanistan and held for 7 months. He is Online News Director for The New Yorker, and Hostage US Advisory Council member.

Rachel Briggs is Executive Director of Hostage US. She is the world’s leading expert on hostage and family support and has worked on hundreds of cases over the past 15 years.
