Event Description

Within today’s unstable world the humanitarian aid and development community faces increasing challenges when deployed to remote, volatile or disaster-struck regions. This is exacerbated by proliferating threats from hostile governments, criminal targeting, gender inequality, LGBTQIA risks, socio-political instability, information security risks, and terrorism. This, coupled with natural disasters, road traffic accidents, as well as injuries and health hazards, makes security and safety awareness training increasingly important. The RSM HEAT program is designed specifically for the humanitarian aid and development community, and builds systematically from foundational knowledge on personal safety, security and cultural awareness – before moving into hands-on practical and scenario based training and exercising. RSM offers various levels of learning experience, including the Level 4 HEAT program [2 days] which offers a blend of theory and practical learning, as well as scenario based exercises. The Level 5 HEAT program builds upon the Level 4 program, with the 3rd day being a pure scenario based learning journey, where knowledge is put into action; being tested against a range of likely scenarios. RSM brings expert instructors, over $60,000 of training aids and equipment, and significant sectoral experience to provide a unique blend of knowledge and application which builds knowledge, skill and confidence.
