Event Description

The Security Incident Information Mangement project (SIIM) is a collaboration between RedR, Insecurity Insight and EISF. It is funded by EU Humanitarian aid and aims to strengthen humanitarian responses to crises by building the capacity of NGOs to undertake speedier security related information management and sharing through the Security in Numbers database (SiND) which is part of Insecurity Insight’s Aid in Danger project.

The course looks at how organisations can improve their security incident information management system and incident preparedness, focusing on:

  • Informing immediate responses to incidents

  • Implementing lessons learned for a better prevention

  • Using data to better understand the humanitarian security context.

  • Using data to inform decision making at organisation level

Session content, discussions, coordinated activities and group work will reinforce participant’s knowledge, skills and competencies on: collection, reporting, recording, analysis, use, and sharing of security incident information.

The format of the 4 session learning programme encourages participants to set targets and reflect on their progress whilst “on the job,” as part of a coherent and high-quality staff development programme.

  • 3-4 hours a week for 4 weeks, will commence on the 23 October

  • Delivered online for maximum convenience

  • Participatory approach involving group work, live presentations every Wednesday and discussion.

  • Aid agency staff involved in incident reporting: national security staff, regional security staff and any others whose involvement would benefit headquarter level SFPs.

  • The training is open to all, with a view that those who participate will contribute to the Security in Numbers Database managed by Insecurity Insight. For more information on the database and what is required from contributing organisations please email sharene.wakefield@redr.org.uk
